See what our music stars are doing to the world: They ignite fire from Lagos to the whole world

  • By Ehi Braimah
  • …Nigeria’s music culture ignites fire from Lagos to Accra, Nairobi, Dubai, Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, Toronto, Houston and Atlanta.

On election day for governors in 29 States and State Houses of Assembly seats on Saturday March 9, 2019, my family and I were having a late breakfast at about noon and Trace Naija, the popular music channel on DSTV, was on and featuring songs by top Nigerian artistes.

Then I popped this question to no one in particular: who is your favourite Nigerian music artiste and why? My daughter, a keen music follower with her eyes on media arts as a possible future vocation, answered me and announced Wizkid and Davido because of the lyrics, beat, tempo and rhythms of their songs. Wow, I exclaimed! She explained further that their songs are popular and relate well with a youthful audience.

We’re against Atiku for promising to restructure Nigeria –ACF secretary, Sani

Secretary-General of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Anthony Sani, speaks with GODWIN ISENYO on a number of national issues including why the forum was against the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, in the recent election.

Before the presidential election, the ACF endorsed President Muhammadu Buhari, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress against a fellow northerner and candidate of the Poeples Democrtaic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. What informed this decision?

It is true that it is not the policy and practice of the ACF to endorse party candidates outright. What the forum does is to provide leadership qualities required for purposeful leadership and party manifesto of political parties and performance of candidates. This is to enable voters to make informed judgement during elections. But that does not mean when the need arises, the ACF would not endorse a candidate. You know there is always a deviation from the norm. In the extant case, the forum was of the view that inspite of some shortcomings of the APC, the ruling party, it is still the best for the country in the circumstance; moreso, that the main opposition party (PDP) made restructuring of the country and sale of the government assets its campaign mantra. This is against the fact that this country has undergone different kinds of restructuring, such as political, economic and geographical; and any further restructuring may be unhelpful. And given the fact that the past sale of government assets did not yield the desired results, the forum was not favourably disposed to any further sale of the government assets. Rather, prudent management of national resources should be what matters. After all, Lagos State is being governed under the same structure and form of government which some people believe is not working.

Buhari will die unless I am not called by God – Prophet Chukwudi claims

Prophet Emmanuel Chukwudi of King of Kings Deliverance Church has again prophesied ‘doom’ on President Muhammadu Buhari

The prophet also made startling revelations concerning the future of governance in the United States.

Recall that Prophet Chukwudi, among his prophecies for 2017, had said President Buhari would die before 2019.

But the fiery prophet reinstated his stand on the prophecy, saying if Buhari did not die in office, then he (Prophet Chukwudi) was not called by God.

He made the fresh revelation during Sunday’s service at his church in Mgbo Court, Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi state.

He said, “Long time ago, I asked all to pray for their master, that he needed urgent prayers to avert the calamity of death at Aso Rock, but they were lazy.

“No one has bothered to reach me, now see what is happening. They don’t want to come for prayers. Things will get worse.

“I said he will be president, today he has become president, I said he will die, see what is happening.

“Nobody wants to come and see the man of God, no one cares. You think it’s like something you can wish away. You cannot wish it away.

“You people around the president, you are sleeping. You won’t do anything to pray for him.

“Let me tell you, until you come before the man of God, and kneel down and pray for the president, you are also heaping curses upon yourself.

“You think the calamity will visit only him? It will visit those who also heard and refused to do anything to save the president.

Am not in support of the Federal Gov in the increament of the VAT ebonyi Governor lament..

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi on Wednesday said the plan by the federal government to lift Value Added Tax( VAT ) from 5% to 35% to pay salaries will not solve any problem but rather worsen the situation.
According to him, the plan will make things more difficult for Nigerians as it will lead to astronomical increment of goods and services in the country.
He described the alleged plan as digging a hole to fill a hole and therefore called on Organised Labour to sit down with government to consider the plan.
Umahi spoke in his office at government house Abakaliki while addressing the staff of his office celebrating his re-election victory.
He noted that with the proposed plan by the federal government, anyone going to buy something will pay 30% VAT than it used to be.
“I saw in a paper where federal government is considering lifting VAT to 35% to pay salaries.
“It is all about digging a hole to fill a hole because we have not come to point of realisation or honesty about how to solve our problems and it is important.
“Federal government is borrowing money. States have been banned from borrowing money.
“And so, if VAT is lifted from 5% to 35% which means that any of us that is going to buy anything is going to pay 30% than what we have been buying. It is important that labour sits down with government.
“There is no fraud that goes on in civil service that is not being orchestrated by civil servants and if we can plug down the stealing or cut down the cost of projects, we should be able to have enough to cater for civil servants and non-civil servants.
“We are in for deeper problems all over the nations we all sit down and look at the problems and how to solve it.
“No Governor will make magic, no President will make magic. If they give us N2bn and the wage bill is N2bn, you can’t make any magic. You pay only wage bill and then go to sleep.

He added: “I am not against the increment but when I was talking about the minimum wage, I told you people that federal government was considering doing something to enable them pay, that is raising VAT which is going to tough for the country. All the building materials will have 35% VAT, cement will come up with 35% VAT meaning those who have not built houses will be struggling to build”.

PDP, Atiku: INEC’s server shows we beat Buhari with 1.6 million votes

Some details of the petition filed on Monday by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to challenge the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari and his All Progressives Congress, emerged on Tuesday.

The petition, which sought to rely on 50 sets of documents, was filed before the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja against the Independent National Electoral Commission, Buhari and the APC as the first to the third respondents, respectively.

INEC had on February 27, 2019 declared that Buhari won the election with 15,191,847 votes to defeat Atiku, whom it said polled 11,262,978 votes.

But the petitioners stated in their 139-page petition that “from the data in the 1st respondent’s (INEC’s) server…the true, actual and correct results” from “state to state computation” showed that Atiku polled a total of 18,356,732 votes to defeat Buhari whom they said scored 16,741,430 votes.

The evil behind cheating in relationship

“When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.
Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know crewhat I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? You know
I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn’t love her anymore. I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take back what I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn’t have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn’t want anything from me, but needed a month’s notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.
This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that every day for the month’s duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her odd request.
I told Jane about my wife’s divorce conditions. . She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.
My wife and I hadn’t had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy in his arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don’t tell our son about the divorce. I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much more easily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn’t looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me. On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn’t tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.
Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.
Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it’s time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.
But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy. I drove to office…. jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind…I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.
She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won’t divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn’t value the details of our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I’ll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.
That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed -dead. My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push through with the divorce.— At least, in the eyes of our son—- I’m a loving husband….
The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. These create an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves.
So find time to be your spouse’s friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!
If you don’t share this, nothing will happen to you.
If you do, you just might save a marriage. Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
Remember love is the richest of all treasures. Without it there is nothing; and with it there is everything. Love never perishes , even if the bones of a lover are ground fine like powder. Just as the perfume of sandalwood does not leave it, even if it is completely ground up, similarly the basis of love is the soul, and it is indestructible and therefore eternal. Beauty can be destroyed , but not love.

What we fail to understand is that when something happens either good or bad it is already destined..and written by God .

Nothing about him is small – Stefflon Don speaks about the size of Burna Boy’s joystick

Stefflon Don confirms her relationship with Nigerian Afrobeat singer Burna Boy.
On Monday, Burna Boy posted a video of himself and Stefflon Don getting cozy. The Nigerian artist quickly deleted the video but not before fans download and circulate it on social media. Steff appears to be sleeping in the clip. She posted a message on Instagram Story after the video went viral, confirming that Burna his her new boo. “Relax guys he ain’t hit yet, but that’s bae,” she wrote.
In November last year, Drake hit up Stefflon Don on Instagram live and asked her out on a date. The British rapper, who is of Jamaican descent, said yes and days later they were both spotted out together. At the time, everyone thought that Drake was hitting, but it seems that was not the case, or maybe he did hit it and it was just a one-off hookup. We all know that Drizzy bagged some of the baddest chicks in the game but is not one to settle.
Steff also made a cameo on Drake’s new album Scorpion on “Peak” interlude. At the end of the track, you can hear her and her girls talking about men. The two rappers have yet to record a proper song together, but it seems Burna Boy will
first Drake to that.

What is fruit and Seed dispersal

Fruit and Seed Dispersal

The fruit has a single purpose: seed dispersal. Seeds contained within fruits need to be dispersed far from the mother plant, so they may find favorable and less competitive conditions in which to germinate and grow.

Some fruit have built-in mechanisms so they can disperse by themselves, whereas others require the help of agents like wind, water, and animals (Figure 1). Modifications in seed structure, composition, and size help in dispersal. Wind-dispersed fruit are lightweight and may have wing-like appendages that allow them to be carried by the wind. Some have a parachute-like structure to keep them afloat. Some fruits—for example, the dandelion—have hairy, weightless structures that are suited to dispersal by wind.

Part A shows a dandelion flower that has seeded. Part B shows a coconut floating in water. Part C shows two acorns.

Figure 1. Fruits and seeds are dispersed by various means. (a) Dandelion seeds are dispersed by wind, the (b) coconut seed is dispersed by water, and the (c) acorn is dispersed by animals that cache and then forget it. (credit a: modification of work by “Rosendahl”/Flickr; credit b: modification of work by Shine Oa; credit c: modification of work by Paolo Neo)

Seeds dispersed by water are contained in light and buoyant fruit, giving them the ability to float. Coconuts are well known for their ability to float on water to reach land where they can germinate. Similarly, willow and silver birches produce lightweight fruit that can float on water.

Animals and birds eat fruits, and the seeds that are not digested are excreted in their droppings some distance away. Some animals, like squirrels, bury seed-containing fruits for later use; if the squirrel does not find its stash of fruit, and if conditions are favorable, the seeds germinate. Some fruits, like the cocklebur, have hooks or sticky structures that stick to an animal’s coat and are then transported to another place. Humans also play a big role in dispersing seeds when they carry fruits to new places and throw away the inedible part that contains the seeds.

All of the above mechanisms allow for seeds to be dispersed through space, much like an animal’s offspring can move to a new location. Seed dormancy, which was described earlier, allows plants to disperse their progeny through time: something animals cannot do. Dormant seeds can wait months, years, or even decades for the proper conditions for germination and propagation of the species.

OMG! After many month of pregnancy look what a woman give birth to..

Todd and Nicole Cameron pose in this recent birth announcement photo at a pumpkin patch in Yellow Point, B.C. In Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic, “Alien,” the crew of the Nostromo begin a voyage carrying with new being unbeknownst to them. Thirty-nine years later, Todd and Nicole Cameron of Nanaimo, British Columbia, wanted to tell their friends and family that they too will embark on a voyage wit a new being.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/HO – Li Carter

In Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic, “Alien,” the crew of the Nostromo begin a voyage unknowingly carrying a new being along with them.
Thirty-nine years later, Todd and Nicole Cameron of Nanaimo, B.C., drew inspiration from the film to tell their friends and family that they too will embark on a voyage with a new being.
On the rainy afternoon of Sept. 20, Nicole Cameron donned a dreamy, peach-coloured chiffon dress that showed off her eight-and-a-half-month baby belly, while her husband wore an off-white sweater to pose in a pumpkin patch for their photographer, Li Carter.

A few photos in, Nicole Cameron’s expression changed to one of pain. She lay in the pumpkin patch, splattered in mud, as a life form tore through her stomach.

It was the creature from “Alien.”
“Over the summer Nicole had been talking about this baby inside her and how it was so weird to see it moving and she could feel its elbows and feet, hands moving all around her,” Todd Cameron said.
“It felt like an alien entity inside of her and I kind of put two and two together.”

While cruising around his neighbourhood this August, Todd Cameron, 44, spotted a garage sale with various knick-knacks from movies. As he sieved through the treasures, he spotted a silicone model of the chest-bursting alien. He paid a handsome $15 for it.

Todd Cameron recalled the first time he watched the movie. He was about 12 years old, and it was his first horror flick, watched late at night after his parents went to bed.

He said he remembers the scene of the birthing beast vividly.
“It just seemed so realistic and so unexpected because they were all sitting around having a meal,” he said.

“There seemed to be no danger in the room. For it to come from within, no one was expecting. And I just remember thinking it was a super, super cool.”
While gluing and putting together his newly acquired alien treasure, he asked his wife whether she’d be interested in a comedy-horror maternity photo shoot, seeing as she wasn’t interested in a traditional one.
She was into it.

Gory costumes are hardly new for the couple, who met on Halloween five years ago at Nanaimo’s Oxy Pub, where Todd Cameron worked as a karaoke host. His future wife came in limping, dressed as a zombie with blood oozing out of her neck and face.
“She was in character so she wasn’t talking and I was just blown away,” he said.

A few months later they connected through Facebook.
On Oct. 21, 2015, the day Doc and Marty arrive in the future in “Back To The Future Part II,” Todd Cameron took his then-girlfriend to the Universal Studios in California, where he got a private tour of the cars that were in the movie.

There, in front of Biff’s car, Todd Cameron recreated a scene from the movie and pulled the ring from a box shaped like the DeLorean.

And for their pregnancy announcement, the couple travelled to Calgary’s comic festival where they had a picture taken with actors Christopher Lloyd, Tom Wilson and Leah Thompson, who held up little signs that read “Baby Time” and “Great Scott,” and also had baby booties.

As they continue their voyage, Nicole Cameron was only too happy to have an out-of-this world maternity photo shoot recreating the classic Alien birth scene.

One of the pictures shows Cameron running after the creature as it skitters through the pumpkin patch.
“This wasn’t really intended but looking back on the shoot now I feel like that the underlying message, other than the comedy and the horror was that, love your kids for who they are. However they come out, whoever they happen to be just love them and support them even if they are hideous, alien creatures, give them a hug,” he said.

Nicole Cameron is due in three days and the couple hope the new addition to the family loves Halloween as much as they do.
They don’t know whether their baby is a boy or a girl.
“We’re hoping that it’s human,” he said. “We’re about 99 per cent sure that it will be a human child.

What a wicked world 51-year-old rapes, impregnates teenager in Abuja

A 51-year-old Civil Engineer, Oluwadare Adesanmi, has been arrested by the operatives of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year- old house help (name withheld).

According to NAN,Mr Vincent Adekoye, NAPTIP’s Press and Public Relations Unit, in a statement on Friday, said the victim was a Junior Secondary School student hired by Adesanmi’s family.

“The victim was hired by the family about two years ago, and has been living with them in their one bedroom apartment in Dutse, Abuja, before the defilement, which has resulted to pregnancy,’’ ‘ he said.

Adekoye said the defilement took place for the first time when Adesanmi’s wife travelled and left her with the suspect.

“He said that the man sneaked into the sitting room, where she was sleeping and forced himself on her.

“The matter came to the open when one teacher in her school noticed some changes in her, which necessitated her being taken for medical test,’’ he said.

He added that the agency will begin to hold parents responsible if, due to carelessness, they allow their wards to be abused.

“NAPTIP has decided to begin, holding parents responsible for the abuse and defilement of their children because it is the responsibility of parents to protect their wards from any form of abuse,’’ he said.

He said that the suspect would soon be arraigned in courts after investigated had been concluded
